What is Outdoor Studios Photography?
At Outdoor Studios Photography, I don't like to put myself into a box, but if I had to, I would consider myself to be a "Lifestyle and Photojournalism Photographer".
Lifestyle Photography is photography re-creating "real" life situations in controlled settings. Lifestyle photography is one of the most popular and consistent types of photography in the market today. Types of photography that fit into this category would be Wildlife, Nature, Landscapes, Special Events and Portraitures; there are also many commercial applications including magazine editorials, corporate portraitures, and product advertising.
Photojournalism or "Street Photography" is a particular form of journalism that creates images in order to tell a story. Photojournalism is distinguished from other close branches of photography by the qualities of: Timeliness — the images have meaning in the context of a recently published record of events, Objectivity — the situation implied by the images is a fair and accurate representation of the events they depict in both content and tone, as well as narrative — the images combine photographic elements to show relatable facts to the viewer or reader on a cultural level clearly outlining the accompanying story.
My objective to you is simple: to tell your story...
About Chris Sgaraglino
Chris Sgaraglino, with roots as a wildlife and nature photographer has been capturing images since getting his first camera body in 2000, specializing in his exquisite work in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He is noted for his creativity in the field; not only in composition and lighting, but also in his use of equipment, blinds, and knowledge of animal behavior.
"My photography has come from my love of the great outdoors and exploring Colorado (and other mountain ranges) with my horses. I have been shooting outdoors and lifestyle photography since 2000 with 35mm film and converted to digital in 2005. I feel that bringing God's creations to light is one way I can repay Him for allowing me the pleasure to get into His country; where most cannot."
"My work is a tribute to Him!"
Chris' passion for photography is life-long. For more than four decades he has been exploring the Great Outdoors from Coast-to-Coast by hiking, biking, rafting, and on horseback. The conditions under which Chris works are often daunting: he climbs 4 to 5000 feet into the Colorado Wilderness where few men travel and even fewer photograph these endangered and protected lands. He treks for miles through the rugged forest to photograph herds of Rocky Mountain Elk and Big Horn Sheep. He'll spend days in a blind to photograph these majestic creatures. Chris does not view such circumstances as a hardship, being up close to wildlife in its natural environment is what he loves. Along with his son & wife, his images and the possibility of inspiring people to care about horses, hunting, wildlife and the protecting of the land are what matter to him most.
"I hope that my view of life outdoors will inspire you and your children to get outdoors and enjoy what God has blessed us with!"

My Publications
Mountain Memories
The photos in this book were taken during a trip to The Harmel's Ranch Resort in Almont, Colorado. This book is a combination of my photographs of the Gunnison National Forest, including the Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area and areas in and around Crested Butte, Colorado.
This book is dedicated to the Roberts Family, Amie & Mark Anderson and the staff at Harmel's Ranch Resort for providing us the opportunity to build lifelong memories with our family and especially with our children. It truly is a blessing calling you friends. (Low-res preview the book)
Tired of that Mini-Van Hunting Rig?
As I walk out my front door and look into the driveway, I hear myself say it once again, “I am tired of taking the mini-van Elk hunting!”
Among other specifics, successful bowhunting for Elk requires solid and sound equipment. Vital to that equipment list is a good vehicle. The ability to carry hunting and camping gear to your favorite hunting spot, getting your harvested animal to the processor, getting in and out of the woods after a long hunt in a good solid truck just seems to top off the week spent there. (Read the full article.)
Hunting Wild Hogs in Colorado
I'm sitting at my desk finishing up with the morning's JOAD and listening to the background chatter, I hear a group of guys that had just come back from hunting wild boar talking about the hunt. The confusing part was that they never left Colorado? No, I am not currently familiar with any wild boars running around in Colorado, and the outfitters in Colorado usually head off to Texas for their hunts. (Read the full article.)
